The Science of Ginger Beer

This term we have been busy making ginger beer. A parent kindly supplied us with a bug and the recipe, so we were good to go!

The children absolutely loved this experience, so when we had to come up with an idea for the Science Festival at Helen Deem Kindergarten in the term break, Ginger Beer was an obvious choice for Kaikorai Kindergarten's contribution.

The tamariki/children have absolutely loved taking part in this; they have learnt about chemical reactions (yeast interacting with sugar) and they have furthered their knowledge of food preparation, numeracy and literacy.

Best of all, after two weeks the ginger beer is ready to drink....Delicious!!

We look forward to seeing you down at Helen Deem Kindergarten on Monday the 5th of July between 10am - 12pm. A free 2 hours of Scientific exploration and fun!
