Bart the pony

11-11-2011
Today we have a visit from Vania and her pony Bart. We had to be very quiet around Bart, so that we did not scare him. Bart is a 6 year old pony and Vania told us that he can live up to be 30. We learnt that Bart sleeps standing up and that he has a friend called lamby-lamb. We all had turns at patting, brushing and feeding Bart and then he did some tricks for us around the play equipment.

Literacy Everywhere

Kaikorai's focus is all about Literacy this term.. The tamariki have been making books, helped to create their very own library and make cards for this. Story time has been popular in both sessions, inside and out. The tamariki are continuing to enjoy writing their names in the sign in book to support Literacy. Teaches are planning an excursion to the library next term. Watch this space!

Renovations!

We are so excited about the renovations that were done over the term break! We arrived back on Monday to a brand new locker room and kitchen, which look absolutely fantastic and are so much more functional than the old ones.

Thank you so much to the DK for funding this. The new facilities will make teaching and learning so much easier at Kaikorai!

The culture of our community

We have been learning a lot about culture this term, both locally and further afield. The most recent adventure we have been on was going on a community walk, utilising the very cool pirate maps that were produced last year. Highlights included visiting the police and fire stations and receiving some yummy free kai at the bakery on Kaikorai Valley Road. We had wonderful whanau support and everybody thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Thank you to all involved.

Hello to Farr Nursery in Scotland!

We have a family from Scotland currently attending Kaikorai Kindergraten. They have told us a lot about Scotland and their nursery back home. We would like to say a big hello to Farr Nursery! We have really enjoyed hearing about you all and would love it if you could send us some photos.

We have been learning about different cultures recently, including the celebration of Chinese New Year last week.
These photos show us enjoying making tea, which we all enjoyed. It's fun trying new things and learning about our own culture as well as others.
